BEARBERRY: t is recommended by the "German Commission E" for the treatment of acute and chronic urinary tract infections, including CYSTITIS. This property is given by hydroquinone glycosides, molecules split in the intestine into glucose and hydroquinone. The latter is excreted by kidneys and then reaches the urinary tract where it has antibacterial and antiseptic action, preventing the growth of bacteria responsible for infections such as E. coli, S. aureus, B. subtilis. It also acts as a diuretic, promoting the elimination of micro-organisms responsible for infection. Since its action is enhanced by basic urinary pH (> 7), it is advisable to take basic food such as milk, potatoes or using sodium bicarbonate.
SERENOA: The "German Commission E" reports the use of Serenoa for the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy at stage I and II. Thanks to the action of fatty acids, titrated up to 30% in the supplement, Serenoa inhibits the enzyme 5alpha-reductase, responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. The latter, if in excess, is responsible for alopecia and prostate growth. The plant also reduces the link between the molecule and its receptor, thus mitigating the action of any dihydrotestosterone present. It has anti-inflammatory and relaxing action on muscles of urinary tract, relieving pain during diuresis. Some clinical studies have shown that Serenoa is as effective as finasteride in reducing the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (Capasso e coll., Fitoterapia. Impiego razionale delle piante medicinali, 2006).
LYCOPENE: : red tomato pigment, rich in CAROTENOIDS, with strong anti-oxidant actions, able to neutralize FREE RADICALS, to protect our DNA from OXIDATION and to prevent various tumor pathologies. LYCOPENE is able to reduce up to 50% tumors in mouth, stomach, colon, rectum, prostate, cervix, ovaries and breast. Protects the skin from PHOTO-AGING and from CARCINOGENESIS.
SOLIDAGO: Solidago is reported in the European Pharmacopoeia IV for its diuretic effect. The "German Commission E" recommends it in the inflammatory states of lower urinary tract, for urinary calculi and gravel (Capasso e coll., Fitoterapia. Impiego razionale delle piante medicinali, 2006).
